Annual Dye Day & Potluck

  • Oatland Island Wildlife Center 711 Sandtown Road Savannah, GA, 31410 United States (map)

Members Leann Landreth and Mary Mistak will lead our Annual Dye Day at our last meeting of the year on June 2nd at Oatland.  We will also have a Potluck luncheon.  Please bring your favorite dish to share.  We will be outside so wear appropriate clothes and bring sunscreen and bug spray.

We will experiment with ice dyeing small items. An indigo dye pot will also be provided. Please feel free to bring a cotton item to dye.  Cottons need to be scoured beforehand.  Follow this link for more information or Google “scouring cotton”:  https://www.rootsimple.com/2012/05/how-to-prep-fabric-for-dyeing-scouring/

Other things to bring if you have on hand are rubber bands, scissors, rubber gloves, a mask, an apron (or wear clothes you don’t mind getting indigo drips on), wooden cut outs, clamps and a plastic bag to take home your wet item.  We can share these items, so if you don’t have them, don’t worry.

This is always a fun event.  Please come out and join us!!!

We will also be having our annual "Trash to Treasure" event.  Bring fiber related items to sell (pre-priced), trade or give away!
