Floor Loom Weaving for Beginners: Weaving Free-style without Fear
TWO DAY WORKSHOP
Saturday, October 12 and Sunday, October 20, 2019, 10 am-4:00 pm
Fiber Guild Studio-Oatland Island Wildlife Center
Take the fear out of weaving on a Floor Loom. Participants will come to our Oatland Fiber Studio two consecutive weekends (one Saturday and the following Sunday). They will create a short narrow warp each day. Participants will discover how to put the yarns on the loom and start to weave. They will be able to weave during the week and be ready to wind a second warp the next Sunday when they will also discover freestyle weaving techniques to explore the joy of weaving without fear.
Participants will bring two cones of 8/2 cotton or cottolin warp yarn in contrasting colors and any leftover bits of yarn they have from other projects. Yarn is available at our local yarn shops: the Frayed Knot or UnWind or online through Webs.com.
Each participant will be able to use the loom for one month rent free. After that time they may rent the loom from the guild month by month.
2 skeins or balls of fingering or sport weight cotton yarn (approximately 350yd) in contrasting colors
Assorted leftover yarns
