Take the fear out of weaving on a Floor Loom
at our Oatland Fiber Guild of the Savannahs’ 2nd floor Studio
Two consecutive weekends (one Saturday and the following Sunday).
You will create a short, narrow warp suitable for a scarf, wall hanging or table runner using a warping board. After learning how to put the yarns (warp) on the loom, you will start to weave exploring freestyle weaving techniques. Participants are encouraged to come to the studio, if possible, during the week to complete the first warp and be ready to wind a second warp the next Sunday to continue exploring what the loom can do. If you cannot come to the studio during the week, you will continue to finish your first warp and hopefully wind a 2nd warp to complete either at home or in the studio.
MATERIALS - Participants will bring COTTON Yarn - 2 small cones of 3/2 cotton or 2 skeins (balls) of DK yarn (approx. 350yd each) or 2 balls of #3 crochet thread in contrasting colors for the warp. Also bring any leftover bits of yarn from other projects.
Yarn is available at our local yarn shops: the Frayed Knot or UnWind or
online from The Yarn Barn -( https://www.yarnbarn-ks.com/3_2-Perle-Cotton-Mini-cone/productinfo/WY-PER03M-/ at $15.25 per cone.)
REGISTER at https://www.fiberguildsav.com/. Class size limited to 5.
Each participant will be able to use the loom for one month rent free. After that time they may rent the loom from the guild month by month.
