Scotland travelogue with Wendy Avery. She will take us on a photo journey through her trip through Scotland which included many important fiber sites: Edinborough, Shetland, the Hebrides, North Ronaldsay, Glasgow.

We will hold our annual potluck and gift exchange. Please bring a fiber related gift to join in the fun! The meeting will be held at a the home of one of our members. Please contact the webmaster for directions.

Join us at Oatland Island for Roc Day, also known as St. Distaff’s Day. Bring your spinning to help us commemorate the day that spinners could return to their work after Christmas. This is also our annual Trash to Treasure Day. Bring fiber related items you would like to sell, trade, or give away. We will also hold a potluck.

We will begin our dryer ball project made from Oatland Island sheep’s wool. This will be a two day project. The dryer balls will be sold in the Oatland Island Gift Shop. Potluck.

We will hold our annual dye day on June 1st. Pots of indigo and ice dyeing will be available. Bring something to dye. We will also have a potluck to celebrate our final meeting of the year.

Becca Cook will speak on her fiber installation for social justice themes. Rebecca Cook’s fiber work shows boundless creativity – and fearlessness. She creates two-headed teddy bears, depressed and mentally suffering (they’re called the “Sad Bears”). Myrtle, her four-legged doll, is on display at the World-Famous Crochet Museum in Joshua Tree, California. While Cook also creates clothing, accessories and colorful crochet ephemera, she uses her fiber art to make statements. Her website is beccacookart.com.

If you would like to participate in our annual gift exchange, bring a wrapped fiber related gift. We will also be accepting hats and scarves for the homeless and discussing the by-laws. Bobbin Boy, a husband and wife team from Asheville, NC, will be joining us. Melissa Dewey will give a presentation of cloth production using antique equipment. Alan will make minor repairs to equipment members bring in without charge. More extensive repairs can be scheduled in advance to be transported to Asheville and repaired in their workshop. Return of items will be arranged with Melissa.
We will meet at oatland Island. See you at 10:15!!!!
