Taste of Core Spinning Art Yarn with Treesa Germany

Create your own unique batt from dyed locks, silk roving, banana silk, and angelina using a drum carder, then learn how to core spin it making into art yarn. The carded fiber is pulled off the drum carder onto a wooden dowel, making rolags to spin from.  The technique for core spinning involves spinning the drafted fiber over a core yarn such as mohair or wool.  $100 members $120 nonmembers

What to bring: spinning wheel, niddy noddy, scissors and drum carder (if you have one). A ball or cone of brushed mohair or wool. Best if the core material is coarse rather than slick and smooth. And if you bring a ball of yarn, also bring a container to hold it so it doesn’t bounce around the floor. There is a ball winder in case your core yarn is in a skein. If you like, bring any fibers (locks or roving) you have on hand for creating the batt. Treesa will have plenty to choose from. Since it’s an all day class, bring lunch and something to drink.
