Taste of Crochet Essentials: Granny Square Tote Bag

Discover the endless possibilities of the classic granny square in this hands-on, 2.5-hour class! The granny square is a staple of crochet history, beloved for its versatility and retro charm. In this class, you will learn how to read a basic pattern and master fundamental stitches (such as the double crochet).

We will make 15 Granny Squares that we will turn into a cute tote bag. We'll master the Granny Square in this class and then Kathryn's committed to Saturday Fiber Fun Days: October 17th and November 21 to go over assembling the project.

Students should bring the following supplies to class:

Crochet hook - size 5.5 mm or hook size recommended by your yarn. Granny Squares make great stash busters - bring a selection of durable cotton or acrylic yarn, worsted, aran or sport weight. If you're buying yarn, purchase up to four colors, one skein of each. Beginners might be interested in Red Heart's All-in-One Granny Square Yarn. One Skein makes 15 Granny Squares - plenty for our pattern. You'll also need a complementary colored yarn to work up the tote bag.

No prior crochet experience required

Bring lunch and a beverage. Please note that registration is transferable but not refundable.
