Join us for this intuitive approach to weaving with no special threading, treadling or pattern to follow. Make it up as you go. Simple plain weave, focusing on color, texture and random patterns. The first day we will warp the looms. The next day we’ll weave a scarf using different techniques: inlay, clasp weft, loops, wandering lines, etc. Many types of yarn will be available to create texture: novelty, bulky, handspun. Feel free to bring your own yarns, too. Location: large classroom at the end of the hall past our 2nd floor Oatland studio. You may take your loom home for one month without rental charges.
We have two options: Start the class on Saturday and have a chance to warp a table loom for your project, OR join the class on Sunday and bring your own warped table loom, details below
If you want to provide your own warp yarn, get 8/2, 8/4 or 5/2 cotton on a cone. Bring any other yarns you’d like to use, or use yarn from the guild’s stash. I’ll bring a box of yarn and sari silk scraps to use in the weft.
Some basic weaving experience is ideal.

Bring your own pre-warped loom, 5” wide, 90-110” long(includes fringe and waste).
Sunday, April 19th only, 10-4

Your instructor Treesa says…I loved sewing and embroidery as a kid and decided to study art in school for no other reason than I liked to make things. I received BA in Art (Ceramics) in 1976 and an MFA in Sculpture (Ceramic, Site Specific and Metals) in 1984. I moved from Houston to Savannah in 1985, took up knitting again and taught myself to spin because the thing I Ioved about knitting was the yarn. Spinning yarn led to dyeing and then weaving. I joined the Guild in the early 2000s, bought a rigid heddle loom and attended a guild talk about “Saori” weaving. Soon after I bought a Saori loom and fell in love with the idea of intuitive weaving. I hope to share some of that enthusiasm with this class!
