Nancy Algrim, a California native, grew up the Redwoods. A textile lover and creator since first grade, Nancy went on to earn a BFA in Fiber Arts with a specialty in Wet Felting from the University of Oregon.
She opened the Black Iris boutique in 1981, offering European fabrics and custom sewing. Nancy creates the majority of the accessories for the shop. These include hand felted items, Kumihimo jewelry, knotted pearls, seed bead, lampworked and fused glass jewelry. She loves to share her skills with others by teaching. Workshops are regularly offered at the Black Iris and when she travels.
