Taste of Beginning and Intermediate Crochet with Melanie Mirande

Curious about crochet but not sure where to begin? Ready to build on your basic crochet skills? This class is the perfect place for you!

In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the essential skills every crocheter needs:

How to hold your hook and yarn comfortably

Making a slip knot and foundation chain

Single and double crochet stitches

How to read a simple pattern

Basic finishing techniques

We’ll work step-by-step in a relaxed, supportive environment—no prior experience required. By the end of class, you’ll feel confident practicing on your own and ready to complete a simple project.

Your instructor, Melanie, learned to crochet at age seven, sparking a lifelong love of fiber arts. She began sewing clothing in eighth grade and completed her first quilt by the end of high school. She earned a B.S. in Clothing and Textiles, then went on to complete a Master’s in Textile Science—teaching herself to knit along the way. Today, she knits, crochets, creates “story” quilts, and is returning to garment sewing. She’s always happy to share her skills and love of craft with others.
